interview in SNITT magazine

23rd December 2009
I was interviewed in the latest issue of SNITT, the magazine of the norwegian graphic arts organisation GRAFILL. The title was Manipulated Reality: Ethics vs. Esthetics. I was chosen because of my background in handcoloring photographs. The interview deals with the ethics of transforming an image after it was taken. My basic position is from my documentary background, but all branches of photography are so different. Advertising exists, for the most part, to create a feeling, and the public is quite savvy to the medium. I prefer portraits that are left natural, as a face is to be read in order to understand the person. And so on.
